In one Creation Story, Gitchi Manitou is said to have sent the Winged ones across the earth in all four directions to plant the seeds of life that would place crawling things and the four legged on land.
It is these creatures that would become the guardian spirits of the Anishinaabe and the dependance upon these creatures for wisdom, protection, and survival has always fostered an understanding of our own place on Turtle Island.
It is important to feast with these spirits and to always remember the role that they play in our lives. We learn about the four legged and the winged through the clan system
